Old Town Parish Church — Edinburgh
Edinburgh, Scotland, UK
Old Town Parish Church is a Category A listed building dating to 1635, with 6-second natural reverberation and a congregation that ranges from Sunday services to full choral-orchestral concerts. Preserving the architectural character while achieving spoken word intelligibility of STI > 0.65 was the central challenge.
We installed the Axion LA-112 system in a tight horizontal array aimed at the pew rows, suppressing energy toward the stone walls and vaulted ceiling. Volunteer-operated CrestControl presets for speech, music, and choir reduce technical errors during services. The Kirk Session approved the installation without modification to the historic fabric — a first for the building in 40 years of PA attempts.
